Overview

Scholarship Background
Created in 2012 by the Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) Foundation and Ford Motor Company Fund, the "Emerging Voices" Scholarship program consists of two $2,500 scholarships, made payable directly to each student's educational institute in the name of Ford Motor Company Fund. The winning students will provide journalistic content for AWM's website based on assigned topics or prompts.

2014 Recipients
Vittoria DeGiosio, King's College Class of 2015, and Jami Hirsch, University of Missouri-St. Louis Class of 2016, are the scholarship recipients of the 2014 "Emerging Voices" program. The students were formally announced as winners during the Gracie Awards Luncheon on June 11, 2014 in New York. Check out Jami's first blog, The Gracies Gala: Because (Her) Dreams Can Come True. 2013 Recipients
Anna Lee, New York University, Class of 2016 and Marisch Perera, Pace University, Class of 2015, are the scholarship recipients of the "Emerging Voices" program. The students were formally announced as winners during the Gracie Awards Luncheon on June 26 in New York. The "Emerging Voices" Scholarship program consists of two $2,500 scholarships, made payable directly to each student's educational institute in the name of Ford Motor Company Fund. The winning students will write original content that will be featured on AWM's website during the upcoming months. 2012 Recipients
Luisa Garcia, a rising junior at The College of New Rochelle, and Anne Johnson, a rising junior at Wake Forest University, are the scholarship recipients of the "Emerging Voices" program. The students were formally announced as winners during the Gracie Awards Luncheon on May 23, 2012 in Los Angeles, CA. "Ford believes that effective and diverse communications are critical for a community that works for all," said Jim Vella, President, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. "This program offers the next generation of leaders an opportunity to develop and expand their voice."

"These two women are truly tomorrow's media professionals, and we look forward to sharing their outstanding work on our website and in our blog in the coming months."

For the 2012 competition, each winning student produced three to four separate pieces of content for AWM between June 1, 2012 and October 1, 2012. One of these pieces will be written about the student's experience attending the Gracie Awards, and one of the pieces will be published in an upcoming AWM Special Report.
